Install the Canon utilities by inserting the Setup CD-ROM into your computer and running the program called "Msetup4.exe." If you see any security warnings, allow the program to begin. Click "Easy Install" to use the default installation settings.

Place your document in the automatic feeder or on the glass. Note that if your document is not of letter, legal, or A4 size, the document feeder will not be able to handle it properly. In these cases, it is necessary to place the document on the glass.

Press the "Scan" button to open the scan menu. Use the up and down keys to select the computer to which you wish to send the scanned image, as well as the type of document you want to create. The "OK" button will save your selections. Finally, press the "Color" or "Black" button to begin the scan.

Follow these steps to reset the printer:

Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

Turn the printer back on.

How to Change a Canon Printer From USB to Bluetooth

Some Canon printers possess the ability to connect to your computer via both USB and Bluetooth. When connecting through a Bluetooth connection, you do not need any wires or cables running between the computer and Canon printer. If you have been using the USB connection, you can change to Bluetooth at any time, as long as your Canon printer is Bluetooth enabled. If not, you can't adjust your printer to function as a Bluetooth device.

Instructions

            1 Remove the USB cable connection. You don't need to add any new drivers because the current printers are already installed from your USB connection.

            2 Click the "Start" button on the desktop and select the "Run" option. A small window appears on your screen.

            3 Type "bthprops.cpl" (without the quotation marks) and click "OK." This opens the Bluetooth settings window.

            4 Click "Add" in the window then chose "My device is set up and ready to be found." Click "Next" and the computer scans for any nearby Bluetooth devices.

            5 Choose your Canon Bluetooth printer from the list that pops up and click "Next." The printer now connects to your computer and you can begin using it with the wireless connection.

Canon MX700 Scanner & Windows 7 Problems

Canon released the PIXMA MX700 Office-All-In-One printer, scanner and copier in 2004, long before computer systems shipped with Windows 7. Canon does not support the MX700 with Windows 

Drivers

·         Though Canon lists the MX700 as one of the products not supported in Windows 7, the company still provides a driver and updated software for download. The same driver that worked on XP and Windows 2000 systems can function in Windows 7. Uninstall the old driver (if already installed), disconnect your printer and then install the new software.

Software

·         In addition to updating the driver, Canon has Windows 7-versions of most of the necessary and the included software for the MX700. You should be able to overcome any problems that arise from updating the operating system on your PC by installing (or reinstalling) the Canon "Solution Menu Version 1.4.3" and "My Printer Version 2.5.0."

Upgrade from Vista

·         Canon reports one known error for the MX700 for users who have upgraded their operating system from Windows Vista to Windows 7. After the upgrade is complete, the MX700 scanning function appears to be disabled. Canon's recommendation is to remove all printer drivers and reinstall the MP version of the driver from the company's website.
